You want to become the Patron Saint of America? Too late. That’s already taken. By a man named Tammanend. Or Tammany, how he’s more known. He was a chief in one of the Lenni-Lenape nation clans in Philadelphia.
Wait, what? Philadelphia? Since when did Gramercy Supply start talking about Philadelphia?
Good catch, thank you. This bag is named after the New York political machine known as Tammany Hall. It controlled much of New York politics and is especially responsible for helping Irish Catholic immigrants. (Our co-founder Kyle can say go raibh maith agat to them for that.) Political figures from Aaron Burr to Lucky Luciano benefitted from the Tammany’s power. It was a powerhouse the world had never seen before or since. While its demise was seen in the mid-twentieth century, it’s legacy lives on. In a bag.
While you shouldn’t help mobsters, you should do the good things the Hall did. Like look fancy. And with a Tammany bag over your shoulder, you’re on your way.
